Please make sure to read my other theories before reading this one, otherwise this one won’t make sense to you!

Let’s go:

I’ve already talked about Euphoria a little in one of my posts:

So, now I will focus on Euphoria!

As we already know, Euphoria is the prologue of the Love Yourself series. But what is this prologue about and where is it in the BTS theory/plot timeline?

Remember my Love Yourself explanation?:

#bts | btstheory-finishi (2)

So basically, with Love Yourself, we went back to the beginning. Before we had Love Yourself and all, we already knew what the beginning of this story looked like since we have the other prologue:

Even though in this prologue, we see their memories and happy times together from Jin’s point of view and in his dream world, we know that these things did happen:

That’s how we have the prologue of WINGS etc. Then right after YNWA, Jin went back in time once again and Love Yourself started. This is where we got another prologue – the prologue of the Love Yourself series. That being Euphoria.

Though, there is one thing that both the old prologue and the new prologue Euphoria have in common: they both show us the memories of the boys together. But in Euphoria we don’t see the memories as an illusion or as part of Jin’s dream wolrd. Instead, we see them actually happening in the real world because here in this prologue, Jin is not dead.

In the old prologue, we saw the memories – the happy times – as a part of Jin’s dream world/new reality because Jin was already dead and he just wanted to re-live these moments. Then the story moved on with Wings and YNWA. Then Jin went back in time once more to before he died and before his relationship with his girlfriend failed. And that was the start of Love Yourself.

That’s why in Euphoria, the prologue of Love Yourself, we see those happy times really happening since Jin is not dead. They are not memories but the actual present. Jin is not dead and those happy times are not a part of his dream world/new reality, but they are normal events in the real world.

If this has confused you right now, don’t worry, because as we move on, you will understand better what I mean. 😊

But for now, just to make sure that what I’m saying is clear I decided to use my amazing paint skills once more and tried to visualize what I just explained: It is clear that this

#bts | btstheory-finishi (3)

Is the same as this, right?

Here, I just separated Wings & LY. Now moving on to the next step: This is what I meant with my explanation/paragraph above:

I hope this helped you a little. My amazing paint skills.

Moving on!

Now that we know Euphoria’s purpose, we can start to analyze it. At first, it might not seem that way but Jin and Jungkook are the main focus in this video. I mean when it comes to JK its pretty obvious since he’s singing but I’ll explain why Jin is important as well.(Jin stands out quite often in the mv)

First, let’s focus on the lyrics. The lyrics make it seem as if Jungkook is talking to someone:

#bts | btstheory-finishi (4)

It might not seem as obvious as it is after reading only these three lines, but you’ll realize as we move on, that he’s talking to someone. But who is he talking to? He is talking to Jin. The only other person who sticks out in this video and has and an extremely important role in the theory. There are many things in the lyrics and in the video that hint at their “conversation” or “connection”.

Let’s start with the lyrics:

EUPHORIA:

EuphoriaEuphoriaTake my hands nowYou are the cause of my euphoriaEuphoriaEuphoriaClose the door nowWhen I'm with you I'm in utopia

One of the things Jungkook is talking about is that he is “euphoric”. Now, as we already know from his solo Begin, his emotions depend on his brothers – the other boys. In Begin he says:

So basically, the reason why he is happy is because of the boys – especially Jin. And that’s why he is “talking to” Jin in this song.

Did you wander looking for a dream erased like rainbowIt's different from a plain word like fateYou're looking at the same place with me with a pain in your eyesWon't you please stay in dreams

(I always like to kinda “rephrase” the lyrics so that they are clearer for me) He’s talking about how a dream is different from plain fate. Meaning that a dream is much more complex, beautiful and colourful than our plain fate. Probably because in dreams, we have our own perfect scenarios, achieve our goals, stay with the people we love and are happy. But fate is what is meant to happen to us. Fate is what destroys our dreams, can take away our loved ones and make us unhappy.

Even though Jin and Jungkook are looking at the same place, Jin has pain in his eyes, whereas Jungkook doesn’t. Noticing that pain, Junkook wants Jin to stay in dreams.

Meaning that: during a happy moment, Jungkook notices the pain in Jin’s eyes. (Why does Jin have pain in his eyes? – will be explained) Jungkook assumes that Jin is thinking about the fact that these happy moments won’t last forever (= fate) that’s why he tells him to stay in the dream. He doesn’t want Jin to think about fate and what will happen, instead he wants him to live in dream and continue being happy (getting rid of that pain).

This might show how young, innocent and inexperienced Jungkook is because of the fact that he just focuses on living the dream and not considering reality or “fate”.

The sea can be heard from far awayBy crossing the dream and going over the woodsGo to the place that is becoming vividTake my hands nowYou are the cause of my euphoria

Over the woods: in a note from V we get to know that there are woods right where the sea is, so with “crossing the dream and going over the woods” he is actually describing the way to the sea.

The sea: a special place for the boys as seen in prologue, Highlight Reel, the Notes, their songs etc. In the video to Love Yourself Wonder we can also see the boys at the sea. It’s a place where they made many happy memories together.

JK is telling Jin to go to the sea, not alone but together with him (because: take my hands now) because, as said before, he wants Jin to “stay in the dream”.

EuphoriaEuphoriaTake my hands nowYou are the cause of my euphoriaEven if the desert cracksEven if someone shakes this worldDon't let go of the hand you're holdingPlease don't wake up from the dream

No matter what happens, please don’t stop dreaming and being happy. Even if someone shakes your world (=> desert = world, will be clear later on), don’t stop dreaming. Jungkook wants Jin to continue following him to the dream (sea, forest => happy moments), he wants him to believe that these happy moments will never disappear and that they will stay together.

You are the sun that rose again in my lifeThe return of my childhood dreamsI don't know what this feeling isPerhaps I'm also in a dreamDream is a blue mirage in the desertFrom deep inside of me, a priori I’m so happy I can’t breatheMy surroundings become more and more transparent

We know that the reason why Jungkook feels euphoric is because of the boys and Jin. He compares Jin (who he associates with euphoria) with his childhood dream, meaning that his childhood dream also made him feel euphoric. But he also says that he doesn’t really know what that feeling is. So, this makes it clear for us that Jungkook actually can’t “name” or exactly say what he is feeling because he hasn’t really experienced it before. Yes, his childhood dream did make him feel somewhat “euphoric” but the thing with Jin and the boys isactually happening, it is not a dream. He actually has a family. But since the only thing close to euphoria that he has felt was caused by his childhood dream,he compareshis situation right now to it. Then he compares his childhood dream with a “blue mirage in the desert” and says that it’s a priori (=> something that he knows deep inside of him without actually experiencing it).

1. a priori: even though he has never “experienced” that dream (that dream never happened), he felt something close to euphoria. He knows that his dream makes him happy, even though the dream never happened. So basically, by being able to dream (even if it doesn’t come true), he knows that he can be happy.

2. comparing the dream with a blue mirage in the desert:The desert is supposed to be the world (because here, the desert is seen as a negative thing, as something dry, bare and challenging, and a place where you can easily lose your way/path; just like the real world): And in that desert there is a blue mirage (=illusion) which is represented by the dream. While waiting in the dry desert, there is a blue mirage that gives you hope but can also deceive you. So basically, while trying to find a path in the real world/trying to survive in the real world, you “find/have” a dream. A dream that gives you hope but can also deceive you. When it comes to Jungkook, that dream gives him hope but it deceived Jin (that blue mirage deceived him into thinking that he would be able to be with the boys forever. And he clung onto that illusion/dream so hard that he started rejecting reality. He decided to live “in that blue mirage/illusion” => dream world during WINGS). Because even if there is an illusion (a blue mirage) like that, it is not real, it does not exist and you still are in the desert with nothing. That blue mirage is unreachable. Just like how the dream is unattainable.

But Jungkook doesn’t realize that and keeps focusing on the dream. Whereas Jin “stares” at the dream with a pain in his eyes because he knows that it can never be real and knows that it only deceives you.

I hear the ocean from far awayI walk across the dream over the forestAnd go towards there as it gets clearerTake my hands nowYou are the cause of my euphoriaEuphoriaEuphoriaTake my hands nowYou are the cause of my euphoriaClose the door nowWhen I'm with you I'm in utopia

“Close the door now”: might be JK telling Jin to “close the door” and not go back, stay/come with him in his momentarily happy, euphoric, dreamlike reality and fully relish it. (though, this can be interpreted in many ways) Because when JK is with Jin he’s in utopia. The perfect place is by Jin’s side.

So basically, the lyrics are about Jungkook feeling euphoric when he is with Jin and the others, that he cannot believe that this is reality because it is so amazing and dreamlike. He wants to continue believing that his life won’t change and that it will always be so dreamlike. But he also notices that Jin doesn’t feel the same because Jin knows that it’s going to end one day. He knows that there will be a moment where everything will change. An incident that will happen no matter what because its fate.

What incident? In Wings Jin committed suicide, Suga and Jungkook fought and Jungkook got in a car accident. At the end of Wings, Jin goes back in time – to the point before the boys drifted apart and chose evil – and that’s how we get YNWA. But there is one thing that doesn’t change. Jungkook’s car accident which kills him. That accident is the only thing that Jin cannot change. So, Jin goes back again and that’s how we get the Love Yourself series.

The reason why Jin has pain in his eyes during their happy moments in Euphoria – the prologue – is because he knows that something will most probably go wrong. He is scared. He is unsure and has a hard time believing that they will be together forever. He cannot live in a dream world because he knows what disaster awaits him and the boys.

Soooo, now that we finished talking about the lyrics, let’s start with the video!

But before we do that one more thing:

There are many parts/aspects/scenes of the Euphoria prologue that is the same – or almost same – as the old prologue (by that I mean the on stage one lol). It is very hard to explain the difference between the old prologue and Euphoria. It is clear that they both have the same purpose. But Euphoria is an alternate version of the old prologue because of Jin time travelling.

In the beginning of Euphoria, we see scenes from the old prologue, I need U and RUN.

This is from the prologue, right when V jumped into the water and also committed suicide in the real world.

I need U – Jungkook getting hit.

Jimin trying to drown himself.

V stabbing his dad

Jhope overdosing

Suga and the fire.

☹V having killed his dad.

There were all important scenes where we saw the boys suffering. But do you notice how there is always this blue line? There is no exact explanation of those lines but I am guessing that they are supposed to indicate that all of this is from the past. That all of it is from WINGS and won’t happen again because Jin goes back in time. Maybe they’re trying to show that these moments are being “replayed” or that Jin is reflecting. It could also indicate that Jin is time travelling again.

One more thing. They showed V’s death but not Jungkook’s. This could hint at the fact that Jungkook’s death has got nothing to do with the unfortunate events from WINGS, instead, it’s his inevitable fate.

Moving on to the scenes that I find really interesting:

These scenes are from RUN. It’s supposed to show the moment Jin realised that V is dead. But do you notice how Jin’s scene is the only scene that does not have a blue line? We said that the blue line represents the fact that the scene happened in the past and that it won’t happen again because Jin goes back in time. If by going back in time he “undoes” or “deletes” that moment/memory then it would mean that none of the other boys would remember it. For them, it never happened (since Jin went back in time). But even if the boys do not remember, Jin knows it all. Because he is the one who decides to go back to “correct” his mistakes or make sure that something horrible doesn’t happen. That’s why when we see Jin – or better said, when we see the moment Jin realised V had died (in WINGS) – then we do not see the blue line. Because even if Jin is only reflecting on everything that has happened until now, while the boys can forget what happened to them, Jin can never forget the things he witnessed. That’s why he will also never forget the moment he realised that V had died (in WINGS)

Moving on:

This is the moment Jin goes back in time to prevent the things from WINGS etc happening. Because now, instead of the bloody hands, we see Jin holding the flowers. What does him holding the flowers mean?We know that in this theory, Lilies have a very special meaning. They’re a sign of innocence and represent the boys while they were still innocent (before Jin’s death). Until now, we have seen Jin holding those six Lily petals in I need U, Awake etc.

Because when they are in his hands, the petals – the boys – stay unharmed and innocent but in WINGS the moment he lets them down, they burn.

That’s because when Jin (in Wings) let them down/left them alone by committing suicide, they started to lose their innocence by having bad thoughts and doing evil things (to get rid of the pain of having lost someone). That’s why the petals that represent the boys during their innocent times, burn.

Back to Euphoria. The bloody hands are replaced by Jin holding the six petals in his hands. Jin decides to go back again. But then he puts the petals on the ground again, though this time they do not burn.

He goes to the window. Until now, the window represented Jin’s chance to “fly away” and be free by accepting his death and the fact that he cannot join the boys anymore. And each time it looked like this:

The window is blocked. Because Jin could not just “fly away” and accept his death since he knew that the boys were suffering because of him. So he kept on time travelling to correct the mistakes etc. And here in Euphoria, we see him looking out of the window, but this time it’s not blocked because this is not the place from where he can “fly away” to be free, this is the place from where he can go back in time. Basically, these are two different rooms.

What I mean is: Do you notice how the room with the blocked window – which represents that Jin wants to be free and accept his death but he cannot do so because the boys are suffering and he needs them – is almost completely white? In contrast to that, the room with the normal window – which represents the fact that Jin decided to fight against his fate by going back in time and trying to “undo” his mistakes – is almost completely black. Why? Because by choosing to go back, he doesn’t want to accept his fate and fights against it. And that is the wrong path. It’s not good, because you can never undo everything. That’s why the room is black. The other room is white because its supposed to be the “right, good” room, in the sense of the room that enables him to walk the good path. But since deep down he desires to choose the bad path and go back in time, the window of that white, innocent, good room is blocked. Because even if there is a part of him that wants to be good and free, the desire to stay with the boys is stronger.

Moving on.

This is what he sees. This is from I need U, Suga’s room that he set on fire. And then he stretches his hand out.

As if he wants to intervene. And then suddenly:

Jin is back. He goes back in time and suddenly, things change. Suga is saved by Jungkook. Jhope is held back by Jimin. And Jin is here for RM. During almost all of these scenes, besides Jin’s, we see a blue glitch. That glitch indicates that the moment/situation of the others was changed. By whom? By Jin.Also you’ve probably noticed how both the glitch and the line from earlier are both blue. That’s because both were caused by Jin and I guess them being the same colour is supposed to indicate that. Just like with the lines, we don’t see a blue glitch when it comes to Jin himself.

And that’s how the Love Yourself series starts.

Moving on.

He feels euphoric because he has the boys and is not alone. This roof or place is very important for Jungkook. He associates it with his happy times.

Then instead of this:

We now have this:

Another change. V does not kill his father. Jhope is with him.

The bloodstains are disappearing which is another proof that V did not kill his father in the Love Yourself series. However, if you look at his hand you’ll see that he has bandages. Because of the notes we know that – in the love yourself series – v was overcome by his anger and lunged at his dad to stab him, but he “missed”, fell down and cut his hand with the broken bottle. (translation of the notes: Twitter @snowflake_dee) That’s why he has a bandage.

Jin (and also Jungkook a second later) lowering his hand.I think Jin doing that is supposed to indicate that he has now “intervened” – in the sense of, he went back in time and has now “stopped” the bad things from happening.

That’s why we also see him smiling here:

If you watch the video, then you’ll notice that he seems relieved and also his eyes are read, probably because he cried.

The next scenes are these:

Jimin in hospital clothes in what looks like to be the cafeteria of the hospital.

It looks like he’s been released from the hospital (running towards the exit) and he’s leaving it with the boys. It can also be that he’s just taking a break from the hospital or is celebrating his birthday or something like that. What’s sure is that he is leaving the hospital with the boys by his side. Before I move on: why even is Jimin in the hospital?

That was explained in the notes:

He has some kind of illness. But it hasn’t been said what exactly.

Then we see this:

We see two different situations. One where he is leaving the hospital by himself. And another one where he is with the boys. Because of the notes we know that there is a time in the hospital that Jimin spends alone – so basically the boys do not appear. The scene from above could be a representation of that time. Then in the notes, we also find out that later on, the boys join him to get him out of there. This again might be represented by the scene above where all of them are together and getting out of that hospital.

I think those scenes where they are leaving the hospital together in contrast to Jimin being alone is supposed to be something like a transition to the rest of this video – since the rest only consists of happy moments.

Moving on:

This is the scene that follows after the boys’ hospital scene. Does this remind you of something?

This is from the other prologue.

I said before:

The fact that they show V lying on that mattress in Euphoria is another indication at the fact that Euphoria is the prologue of the Love Yourself series. Forget about the meaning behind him lying on that mattress for a sec and just focus on the demonstration of both of the mattress scenes from euphoria and the first prologue. Both scenes are almost the exact same with a few differences. Which is supposed to show us that Euphoria is almost the same as the first prologue – with a few differences. One of the differences is this, which I explained before:

However, you need to know that even though it might seem similar, the plots that Euphoria and the old prologue introduce are both different. So the stores are mainly different from each other:

Euphoria: Love yourself series => has a different plot than the old prologue: WINGS/YNWA

Moving on.

They all seem so cute and happy right?

#bts | btstheory-finishi (5)

#bts | btstheory-finishi (6)

right? :’)

#bts | btstheory-finishi (7)

RiGht? :’)

#bts | btstheory-finishi (8)

RIGHT? :’)

Beautiful.

As you can see, Jin is once again clinging onto his camera. Why?

Because as I explained:

Because Jin knows it’s going to end, he desperately tries to cling onto the memories by taking pictures or filming. That’s why he also has a camera in Euphoria.

Now to the part that I find very interesting:

Look at all those pictures below and focus on the colors:

Blue is always focus of every scene. Why?

Dream is a blue mirage in the desert

This is why in Euphoria, during those happy moments blue is always in the focus. Because for Jungkook, the boys and these memories are a part of the blue mirage in the desert in which he lives. His life as dry and lifeless as the desert before he met the boys. And in that life the boys and the memories are that blue mirage. They give him hope.

However, for Jin these moments can’t be completely happy yet alone euphoric (remember the lyrics: You're looking at the same place with me with a pain in your eyes). Because Jin knows from the WINGS and YNWA outcome of the story, that a dream like that – or that blue mirage – is unattainable.

Moving on.

There might not be much direct meaning behind this scene, but it keeps reminding me of this:

That was during the old prologue. V is alone in that picture and distances himself from the boys.

But then in Euphoria, while he once again sits alone, Namjoon appears behind him (special pairs). I just thought that that was very cute and beautiful.

Moving on.

He looks so cute <3

But yes, another scene that is similar to the old prologue. Namjoon is once again approaching V.

THEN: another interesting thing.

Suga is the first one joining JK. Why? Because of the special pairs.

We see something very important here. Jimin looks behind towards that corner. Beeeeecausseeee:

That’s where Jungkook was while they were spending time together in the hospital. During a visit probably?

#bts | btstheory-finishi (9)

Since they were there with him?

Jimin and Jhope join them => once again special pair

In between those scenes we see Jimin alone. I think its supposed to show the contrast between these two situations.

V and rm => special pair

And lastly Jin I RIPPED THE BIGGEST UWU THEY LOOK SO ADORABLE MAN I HOPE THEY STAY TOGETHER UNTIL THE DAY THEY PART FROMTHIS WORLD MAN FUCK I LOVE THEM

MAN LOOK AT THEM I SWEAR IM HAVING REAL FEELS OVER HERE MAN FUCK

☹ so cute. Also yeah I chose this pic because there is a lot of blue and its supposed to hint at this:

Moving on.

From I NEED U

Do you see the contrast in colours? Euphoria’s version is much more colourful and full of life whereas I need u is just dull.

That’s because as said before, Euphoria represents the boys as a blue mirage that gives Jungkook hope while during I NEED U these happy moments were a creation of Jin’s dream of wanting to be happy, which in the end only deceived him into thinking those moments (which were actually just memories) were real.

Anyway I just wanted to mention the similarity or difference between I need u and euphoria

It seems like they are a part of the sea. So beautiful man. Bus yes, once again, blue mirage. And in contrary to that, another scene from I need U:

back at this bitch ass stank place :’)

At fist it seems as if V is going to go to that jump thingy but it’s actually Jin.

While everyone is cheering, V is the one not doing anything. He seems to be analysing Jin or waiting to see what his next move will be. It seems as if V knows that place or he knows that that place isn’t connected to anything good. He might know that something went wrong there.

And now the part that actually broke my heart:

In the old prologue, he was filming and watching while V was jumping. And we know that V’s jump in Jin’s dream world (old prologue) was a hint at V’s suicide in real life. But back then, Jin only “watched” it happen.

And now, he is interfering. He is actually doing something by going up there himself. And then he records the boys because now that he has interfered, he won’t be sitting and watching as one of them falls apart. And that – the fact that the boys are unharmed – is the true happy moment for him, which is why he again records that moment. He wants to cling onto it.

All of them are being cute and dorky man, unbeknownst to the actual meaning behind him standing there and all, but only V isn’t. It again seems as if V knows because he is the one who had jumped from there. But as said before – it only seems that way. We know that its not possible that V can remember what happened since Jin erased everything by going back in time.

And this is the exact same thing that’s shown in the next scenes.

The camera drops and we see the scene from RUN. However, its played backwards??? Meaning that that event has already become “undone” or that Jin has already gone back in time and has erased it. These few scenes are proof that Jin has already gone back in time to make everything better because V doesn’t Jump.

He knows and remembers that he went back in time. He knows what would have happened (v jumping) but he has interfered and now, instead of V Jumping, he is just standing there, overcome with relief. Because he did something right.

And then at the end, we see this:

#bts | btstheory-finishi (10)

“Hyung, is that all? Don’t you have anything else you’re hiding from us?”

And right after that:

Jungkook getting hit by the car.

I think the combination of those two scenes is supposed to mean that:

One of the boys (I think its jungkook because otherwise it wouldn’t make that much sense) knows that Jin time travels (“Hyung, is that all?”) and wants jin to tell them about the other things he knows.

That being the fact that Jungkook will get in a car crash. (“Don’t you have anything else you’re hiding from us?”) Jin knows that. But I don’t think he shared that with the others lol.

And this, my friends, is everything i have for Euphoria. I hope that it makes more sense now and i hope you all understood my explanation :’). Thank you all for reading! <3
